Alright, let’s talk about the idea of going out and traveling. It’s something that a whole lot of people are going to spend a whole lot of time talking about, and yet so few people actually do so. And let me tell you, those people who don’t end up getting to go out and see the world? They don’t have anyone or anything to blame but themselves.
You see, we live in what is basically a golden age of travel. You can fly clear across the world, twenty-one hours of air time in a huge jet that is comfortable, offers free food and free booze, and where the people are oh so kind, and it costs less than fifteen hundred dollars. That’s less than the average smoker spends on cigarettes in a given year, and it can get you all the way around this world and then back. How awesome is that? Seriously, if you are a smoker, and you quit smoking, and you save that six dollars a pack per day that you would probably be spending, you can save up over two thousand dollars. You can easily go out and fly to any part of the world with that money.
But where to go, and more importantly, what to do when you get there? The fact is that when it all comes down to it, there is a lot that you can do when you are traveling, but there is also a lot that you can miss out on if you go a-traveling and you don’t end up having a plan. This may be where hiring a vacation planner can be a real asset to you, but that isn’t for everyone. I know that, speaking personally, when I go out to a new country I’ve never been to, I like to ask friends who have been there for a few things that I might want to go and do, and then I spend the rest of the time just kind of wandering. And let me tell you, I have seen some of the most awesome things in the world wandering, including the mighty pangolin. But what of that other question, the question of where it is you should go?
Well, I would suggest, as a fun trip, that one would enjoy going to see Ireland. It’s like England if the accents were better, the music was more upbeat, the beer and bar scene was better, and the people were a lot nicer and a lot less urban. But what is it that you may want to do on your vacation to Ireland? Well, you may want to ask the vacation planner earlier mentioned, but here are just a few things that I would suggest you see.
1. The Music Scene (O’Donoghues)
Do you like country music? Do you like folk music, like the stuff played by (groan) Mumford and Sons? If you like either, you have Irish music to thank for it. And when it comes to Irish music, there is a great scene, but when it comes to going to see the right place for you and for making sure that you will be able to enjoy the music culture, I would suggest going to O’Donoghues. Why? Because it is the home of Irish popular music, having given birth to the Dubliners (basically THE Irish band to end all Irish bands of the last hundred years. Look em up on youtube) and the Pogues (Irish punk band, one of the few that started it all).
2. The Guinness Brewery
Of course, when planning Irish vacations, you would be really remiss if you didn’t go and see the place that makes one of Ireland’s most famous products. I’m talking about the Guinness Brewery. There are few things that are as commonly associated with Ireland as a proper pint of Guinness, and you can get a proper pint right where it was brewed. Trust me when I say that this is a bit of excitement that simply cannot be missed.
3. The Land
Do you yearn to see a sea of green grass, a country side that isn’t like the American countryside with all of its suburban this and that? Well Ireland can offer you just such a thing. Trust me when I tell you that they will allow you to make sure that you see the most amazing sea of green grass you have ever seen.
There is nothing better than a great trip abroad, and there are few trips abroad that you will enjoy as much as a trip to Ireland. Trust me, and go out and see the world!
